Sonic Frontiers will be released in November, as revealed by an action-packed video

At Gamescom, Sonic the Hedgehog's upcoming 'open-zone' game receives a fresh appearance

Sonic the Hedgehog’s next 3D game, billed as a “open-zone” platforming adventure by Sega and Sonic Team, will be released in November. Sonic Frontiers’ release date was revealed in a new teaser at Gamescom Opening Night Live on Tuesday: November 8, on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

Sonic Frontiers takes our speedy hedgehog hero to the Starfall Islands for open-world exploration, and to Cyber Space for more traditional, high-speed action-platforming. Sonic will journey through the Starfall Islands in search of long-lost friends Amy and Tails, while encountering strange enemies, ancient ruins, perplexing puzzles, and massive bosses.

Sega’s Sonic Team Japan is in charge of the game’s development, which is helmed by producer Sachiko Kawamura and director Morio Kishimoto. Sonic Boom writer Ian Flynn will craft an original scenario for it.

Sonic Frontiers was first teased over a year ago, but Sega and Sonic Team didn’t officially reveal the game and its title until The Game Awards in December. Sonic fans got their first look at gameplay in May, and the reaction was so lukewarm that some begged Sega to delay the game even longer in order to polish the experience.
