Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play starts in 2023
League and ranked play in Cold War and Vanguard are being phased out this month.
Treyarch will be in responsible of bringing Ranked Play to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s range of online multiplayer options in 2023, the firm revealed on Wednesday.
Players were always aware that ranked modes would not be available at launch; however, it now appears that they will be available around season 2 of multiplayer, assuming no hitches. Ranked Play will feature competitive playlists and awards, rated skill divisions, visual skill ratings, and a leaderboard that displays the top 250 ranked players.
Treyarch created the Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies and Ranked Play modes, which were favorably welcomed despite the game’s overall poor reception. Ranked Play in Vanguard started with a beta version in the game’s multiplayer season 2, which started on February 14.
Ranked Play adheres to Call of Duty League standards, and as such, Modern Warfare 2 will have a CDL Moshpit option when Season 1 launches on November 16. All of this implies Treyarch will begin phasing out Ranked Play in Vanguard, as well as the relatively equivalent League Play in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in 2020. “Players should claim their remaining awards in both titles before November 22,” the company tweeted on Wednesday.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released on October 28 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
