Legendary Pokémon of Scarlet and Violet, described

We now know everything there is to know about Koraidon and Miraidon.

Scarlet and Violet’s Pokémon cover Legendaries Koraidon and Miraidon are both strong lizard-like Pokémon that can be mounted.

We’ve included all of the information we have on Koraidon and Miraidon as of this writing.

EXCLUSIVE VERSION OF KORAIDON AND MIRAIDON

Koraidon is a Pokémon Scarlet exclusive, whereas Miraidon is a Pokémon Violet exclusive. The only way to obtain both of them in one game is to trade or get them via future distribution events, such as a GameStop voucher.

MIRAIDON IS RELATED TO THE FUTURE, WHILE KORAIDON IS RELATED TO THE PAST.

These lizards have something to do with specific time periods, as indicated by their names. In Japanese, “mirai” means “future,” and “korai” means “ancient.”

This corresponds to what we’ve seen in trailers: Pokémon Scarlet is more focused on the past, with Professor Sada dressed in prehistoric attire, whereas Pokémon Violet features Professor Turo in a Tron-like bodysuit.

RIDING THE KORAIDON AND THE MIRAIDON

Based on the various trailers, it appears that these Legendary Pokémon will be the major mode of transportation, riding on them over plains and through waterways. The Legendary Pokémon have distinct formal forms for different terrain types.

GameFreak offered explanations of the various forms that describe how they function in a news release:

Sprinting Build / Drive Mode: Players can ride Sprinting Build Koraidon or Drive Mode Miraidon to more easily navigate the vast Paldea territory.

Swimming Build / Aquatic Mode: By riding Swimming Build Koraidon or Aquatic Mode Miraidon, players will be able to jump into rivers, lakes, and bright oceans to approach the Pokémon that reside there, or cross treacherous waters in a flash.

Gliding Build / Glide Mode: Players can glide to their target by jumping from mountains, steep cliffs, or lofty structures.

THE TYPING, ABILITIES, AND MOVESETS OF KORAIDON AND MIRAIDON

We have no idea! As ridiculous as that response is, GameFreak has yet to release it. When they do, we’ll update this guide with all of the new information.

However, there are several fan theories surrounding the two Legendaries, including as the possibility that Cyclizar has something to do with them as well.
