Iron Fist Alexander quest Elden Ring walkthrough

Get Alexander, Warrior Jar unstuck from the ground — and stuck in your heart

Elden Ring players who extensively explore the initial location, Limgrave, will almost certainly come across one of the game’s most perplexing NPCs: Iron Fist Alexander, a huge Living Jar who regularly gets his butt caught in unexpected places. You’ll be able to get him unstuck again and again with this guidance – and uncover his final fate.

Prepare to fight alongside Alexander, obtain the distinctive Jar helm, discover the well-kept settlement of Jarburg, assist Diallos in finding purpose, and more.

CHAPTER 1: HELP ME! I’M STUCK!

We’ll begin from the beginning, but keep in mind that if you’ve already begun the celebration at Redmane Castle, Alexander will not arrive at his first two places. If necessary, skip forward.

STEP 1: FIND ALEXANDER IN LIMGRAVE

STEP 1: FIND ALEXANDER IN LIMGRAVE

Alexander’s first location is in northern Limgrave, near the Saintsbridge place of grace. You’ll hear his calls for aid as you approach.

Step 2: Unstick his buttocks.

Fortunately, the Iron Fist’s problem is simple to resolve. Simply whack him in the backside with any weapon a couple times, and he’ll pop out. You’ll receive the Triumphant Delight Gesture and a chunk of Exalted Flesh, which is a little sinister prize for reasons that will become clear later.

Alexander will inform you about the Radahn Festival at Redmane Castle, but before you get there, you can see him again in Caelid.

STEP 3: GAEL TUNNEL

STEP 3: GAEL TUNNEL

Alexander will be waiting for you behind a door in Gael Tunnel, a dungeon on the border between Limgrave and Caelid. This encounter is optional, although chatting to the Great Jar will teach you more about him, including the fact that he “was created to be a warrior vessel” and that “many great warriors live within” him.

You may not realize it right now, but he means it literally.

By the way, while you’re here, you should finish this dungeon because the reward is Moonveil, one of the best dexterity/intelligence weapons in the game.

CHAPTER 2: A FESTIVAL OF COMBAT

STEP 4: DEFEAT RADAHN

If you were unable to speak with Alexander at his first two places, the Warrior Jar will still be present during Radahn’s Festival at Redmane Castle. You may speak to him in the courtyard before the fight and call him during it; his flailing arms and steadfast spirit should come in handy against Radahn.

While we’re here: If you need help battling Radahn, check out our tutorial.

Step 5: Find Alexander in the aftermath

Following that, he may be seen amid the dunes near the new Starscourge Radahn site of grace, greedily devouring the bodies of warriors who fell against Radahn in order to absorb their strength. Cool!

Step 5: Find Alexander in the aftermath

To go on to his next destination, you must exhaust Alexander’s conversation here, so keep chatting to him until he repeats himself, then warp to the Artist’s Shack in Liurnia.

CHAPTER 3: THE WANDERING JAR

STEP 6: STUCK AGAIN

STEP 6: STUCK AGAIN

Alexander’s next stop is in eastern Liurnia, near the Carian Study Hall. You may easily get there by bike from the Artist’s Shack (the one in Lirunia). The Great Jar Warrior is stuck once more, this time so securely in the earth that you’ll need to apply lubrication to free him.

Toss an oil pot at him, then bash away with your biggest weapon, and he’ll come unstuck in no time. If you don’t already have any oil pots, get the Nomadic Warrior’s Cookbook [17] from the merchant in Siofra River to learn how to make them.

Alexander grants you Exalted Flesh x3 as a prize for getting him unstuck again again, as well as the Triumphant Delight gesture if you missed Alexander at his Limgrave location.

Step 7: A detour to Jarburg

Step 7: A detour to Jarburg

Alexander will tell you during the Liurnia encounter that he was looking down at his home from the top of a neighboring cliff. Jarburg, a settlement of Living Jars, may be reached by jumping down the ruins projecting from the cliffside.

Step 7: A detour to Jarburg

You may talk to Alexander’s nephew, Jar Bairn, who is a much smaller jar-person who can be found sitting on some stairs on the village’s western side. Exhaust his discourse, which necessitates refreshing the location several times.

Step 8: Find Alexander on Mt. Gelmir

Step 8: Find Alexander on Mt. Gelmir

Iron Fist Alexander will next appear on Mt. Gelmir, between Fort Laiedd and the Seethewater Terminus place of grace. He’s soaking in the lava at the spawn place of the Magma Wyrm. You’ll want to vanquish the boss before speaking with him.

Step 8: Find Alexander on Mt. Gelmir

Alexander will hand you the Jar Helm, a highly memeable piece of headgear like an overturned jar. He’ll also drop a hint about his next destination: Mountaintop of the Giants.

Step 9: Another detour

If you haven’t yet visited Volcano Manor, you should go there and defeat Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy. You can either accomplish Tanith’s assassination assignments or explore the Prison Town legacy dungeon on your own to reach Rykard. If you need some assistance, consult our Volcano Manor guide.

Speak with Diallos in the drawing room as frequently as you can throughout your stay at the Manor, and check in with him again once you’ve defeated the boss. When he departs the Manor, you’ll find him in Jarburg, in a hut on the northeast side of town; talk with him there, as well as Jar Bairn, reloading the area many times as these NPCs travel around.

Don’t worry; there’s a reason for all of this.

CHAPTER 4: A DUEL OF FATE

Step 10: Defeat the Fire Giant

You can’t talk to Alexander on the Mountaintop, but you can summon him to assist you fight the Fire Giant. After the boss fog gate, his summon symbol emerges.

Step 11: Find Alexander in Crumbling Farum Azula

Step 11: Find Alexander in Crumbling Farum Azula

Finally, Alexander may be found in Crumbling Farum Azula for the last time. He’s on a level patch of ruins near the Dragon Temple Lift place of grace, past the courtyard full with skeleton foes (which itself is found beyond a Stonesword Key fog gate).

Step 11: Find Alexander in Crumbling Farum Azula

Alexander will challenge you to a duel there. If you defeat him, he will leave you with Alexander’s Innards, a crucial item, and Shard of Alexander, a talisman that boosts the damage you do using Ash of War abilities.

Step 12: Back to Jarburg again

Return to Jarburg and give Jar Bairn Alexander’s Innards to accomplish this quest. You must have talked with him and Diallos in Jarburg enough times to see their narrative through to its conclusion, which involves the community being assaulted by a poacher and Diallos dying to protect it. Diallos’ Mask will be obtained after reloading the region following the character’s death.

Step 12: Back to Jarburg again

When you reload the location after Jar Bairn leaves, you’ll uncover the Companion Jar talisman, which boosts the damage you do with pot goods.

And with that, the stories of Alexander, Jar Bairn, Diallos, and Jarburg came to an end.
