Halo Infinite campaign co-op delayed to winter, season 3 delayed to 2023

343 Industries has released a new post-launch plan.

Halo Infinite’s cooperative campaign has been officially postponed, much to the dismay, if not necessarily surprise, of Halo enthusiasts. In a revised post-launch roadmap revealed Thursday, 343 Industries named Nov. 8, when the game’s winter update period begins (rather than season 3 of multiplayer), as the new goal date for campaign co-op.

Furthermore, split-screen cooperative gaming is completely removed. Back in 2017, before Halo Infinite even had a name, creative director Joseph Staten pledged that 343 will “take the resources we would use on [split-screen co-op] and go after this list and all of these other stuff” in the winter update.

343’s last content roadmap, released in late April, set August as the release date for campaign co-op, a feature that had already been delayed past the game’s November 2021 release date, along with the Forge map editor.
This summer, campaign co-op received a beta that ended in early August, and it also tested out the mission replay functionality promised for the game’s campaign mode. However, a Microsoft official said in July that campaign co-op, whenever it arrives, will not feature matchmaking functionality.

The Forge feature in Halo Infinite will now receive a beta during the winter update period, with no timetable for its complete release provided. Nonetheless, Staten stated in a YouTube conversation on Thursday that the test will begin on November 8. “It’s a tremendous priority to get the Forge beta out on November 8th, along with the winter update,” Staten stated.

Season 3 of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer has also been postponed. 343 Industries has marked November for the start of the season again in April. It will now run from March 7 through June 27, 2023. However, two new maps will be introduced to multiplayer in the winter update: Detachment and Argyle, both of which were created using Forge, according to Staten.
