Locate every map stele

We’ll show you where each map fragment stele is in our Elden Ring map fragment locations guide. As you gather map fragments at stelae (or steles) along the route, Elden Ring’s map fills up. There will be one or more map fragments to locate in each new region you visit.

ELDEN RING MAP FRAGMENTS

Each new Elden Ring location you visit will contain one or more map fragments to gather in order to uncover the overworld map. Each of these map sections may be located at a stele, such as the one seen above. If you look closely, you’ll notice a very faint stele icon in the vacant space of your map.

EAST LIMGRAVE AND WEST LIMGRAVE MAP FRAGMENT STELE LOCATIONS

Limgrave, the first area you visit, has two maps: Limgrave, East and Limgrave, West.

WEEPING PENINSULA MAP FRAGMENT STELE LOCATIONS

The Weeping Peninsula is a single map piece to the south of Limgrave. (This one may be part of Limgrave, but the name is distinct, therefore it deserves its own section.)

CAELID AND DRAGONBARROW MAP FRAGMENT STELE LOCATIONS

Caelid and Dragonbarrow are to the east of Limgrave, but you won’t need to go there for a time. You are free to explore it, although it might be scary at first. Two map parts must be found: Dragonbarrow to the north and Caelid to the south.

EAST, WEST, AND NORTH LIURNIA MAP FRAGMENT STELE LOCATIONS

After defeating Godrick the Grafted at Stormveil Castle, proceed north into Liurnia. There are three map fragments here: East Liurnia, North Liurnia, and West Liurnia.

ALTUS PLATEAU AND LEYNDELL, ROYAL CAPITAL MAP FRAGMENT STELE LOCATIONS

After exploring Liurnia and obtaining both pieces of the Dectus Medallion, you’ll ascend the Grand Lift of Dectus and access the Altus Plateau. From there, you may go east to Leyndell, Royal Captial. You must locate two map fragments, one for each (sub)region.

MT. GELMIR MAP FRAGMENT STELE LOCATION

You’ll most likely be carried to Mt. Gelmir against your will when investigating the Academy of Raya Lucaria, although you can also reach there via the Altus Plateau. The Mt. Gelmir map piece may be found on your journey inside the Volcano Manor.

MOUNTAINTOPS OF THE GIANTS MAP FRAGMENT STELE LOCATIONS

You’ll need another medallion — two, in fact — after Leyndell to explore the following zone, the Mountaintops of the Giants. You’ll need Rold Medallion from fighting Morgott, the Omen King, in Leyndell for the major section. You’ll need the two parts of the Haligtree Secret Medallion to access the secret Consecrated Snowfield location.

There are three map fragments in Mountaintops of the Giants: West Mountaintops of the Giants, East Mountaintops of the Giants, and Consecrated Snowfield.

SIOFRA RIVER AND NOKRON, ETERNAL CITY MAP FRAGMENT STELE LOCATION

Deep under East Limgrave lies the Siofra River and, eventually, Nokron, Eternal City, which you must explore as part of Ranni’s questline. The Siofra River has one map fragment to discover.

AINSEL RIVER AND NOKSTELLA, ETERNAL CITY MAP FRAGMENT STELE LOCATION

You’ll travel to another underground river and city later in Ranni’s questline, Ainsel River and Nokstella, Eternal City. The Ainsel River has one map fragment to discover.

LAKE OF ROT MAP FRAGMENT STELE LOCATION

You’ll go to the Lake of Rot after leaving Nokstella. The Lake of Rot map fragment may be found directly near to the Lake of Rot Shoreline site of grace.

DEEPROOT DEPTHS MAP FRAGMENT STELE LOCATION

It takes some effort to find your way into the Deeproot Depths. You’ll have to sleep in a coffin in the Siofra Aqueduct or sneak via Leyndell’s Subterranean Shunning-Grounds.
