Elden Ring guide: Blaidd’s questline walkthrough

Assist this wonderful guy in serving his mistress. Ranni

If you venture over to the Mistwood in eastern Limgrave early on, you could come across Blaidd the Half-Wolf, one of the first people you might meet in Elden Ring. You could hear a wolf’s sad howl amid the overgrown Mistwood Ruins. And thus Blaidd’s adventure starts.

CHAPTER 1: MEET BLAIDD

CHAPTER 1: MEET BLAIDD

STEP 1: MISTWOOD RUINS

The Mistwood Ruins are found in the Mistwood, on the east side of Limgrave’s main landmass, slightly southwest of the small Erdtree. You’ll hear a mystery wailing if you wander about there. There are a lot of wolves nearby. But that particular wail belongs to our boy.

STEP 2: OH SNAP

Return to the Church of Elleh, which is close to your beginning place at the First Step site of grace. Speak with Kalé, the Santa-like shopkeeper, who will teach you a gesture that should entice Blaidd out of his hiding location.

Return to Mistwood Ruins and look up to see the Half-Wolf resting at the highest point of the building. Stand beneath him and utilize the Finger Snap gesture by equipping it in one of your main menu’s gesture slots. Blaidd will come down and introduce himself. And don’t worry, he’s not as frightening as he appears.

CHAPTER 2: BLAIDD’S REVENGE

CHAPTER 2: BLAIDD’S REVENGE

STEP 3: HUNTING DARRIWIL

Kale refers to Blaidd as “a nice egg,” and the Half-Wolf seems to have an instant connection with you, for he instantly drags you into a quest: he’s looking for someone named “Darriwil,” a “traitor… in need of a suitable conclusion to his narrative.” You’ll be looking for him in the Forlorn Hound Evergaol in Limgrave, right south of the Agheel Lake South site of grace.

STEP 4: FRIENDSHIP THROUGH FIGHTING

You can call Blaidd to help you fight Bloodhound Knight Darriwil at the evergaol. If you’re still in the early stages of your trip through The Lands Between, this may be a difficult boss to face; there’s no shame in leveling up and returning later. You can aid him if you have access to fire or lightning items or spells, as his resistances to these elements are poor.

After beating Darriwil, Blaidd will emerge outside the evergaol for a brief conversation.

STEP 5: A MUTUAL ACQUAINTANCE

Blaidd will reward you with some rare smithing stones for your assistance in his quest and will encourage you to go see his friend Iji. If you haven’t been passed Stormveil Castle yet, your trip with Blaidd will need to come to a halt here so you can make some plot advancement.

You can advance once you’ve reached Liurnia of the Lakes.

STEP 6: THE ROAD TO THE MANOR

STEP 6: THE ROAD TO THE MANOR

Road to the Manor is a spot of grace in northern Liurnia, on the western edge of the lake, where the enormous blacksmith Iji dwells. By informing him you were sent by Blaidd, you’ll gain access to the Carian Filigreed Crest, a talisman that decreases the FP cost of your weapon abilities by 25%. Thank you, Blaidd!

CHAPTER 3: IN SERVICE TO RANNI

The next encounters with Blaidd will occur as part of Ranni’s tale. After passing through Caria Manor in northern Liurnia, you’ll run across Blaidd again at Ranni’s Rise, then again underground in the Siofra River Well, and again when you confront General Radahn at Redmane Castle. To find out how to fulfill these steps, see our Ranni quest guide.

STEP 7: RETURN TO THE EVERGAOL

Blaidd advises you to meet Radahn where the meteor landed, but if you merely follow Ranni’s mission and walk below to the everlasting city, you won’t see the Half-Wolf again until the end.

STEP 7: RETURN TO THE EVERGAOL

Instead, return visit the Forlorn Hound Evergaol in Limgrave to see our wonderful lad once more. As you approach, you’ll hear him wailing; stand in the center to speak with him and then liberate him.

Blaidd will inform you that Iji imprisoned him there for unknown reasons.

STEP 8: THE TRUTH ABOUT BLAIDD

You can find out if you return to Iji. Blaidd was entrusted to Ranni to be her shadow and follow her in everything, but with Ranni’s path veering from the Greater Will, Blaidd is bound to become insane.

That provides important context for what follows.

CHAPTER 4: THE END

To reach the end of Blaidd’s narrative, you must first complete Ranni’s, and you have a lot to accomplish. Check out our Ranni tutorial for more information on how to assist the sorceress on her journey.

STEP 9: CONFRONTATION

STEP 9: CONFRONTATION

Return to Ranni’s Rise with the Dark Moon Greatsword in hand to hear of Blaidd’s eventual destiny; the Half-Wolf may be located outside the tower’s door, and he’s regrettably succumbed to the lunacy that Iji foretold. He was a good boy, but it’s time to say goodbye.

This will provide you his armor set as well as his Royal Greatsword, a massive weapon that scales largely with strength and intellect. (By the way, a helm resembling Blaidd’s visage can be discovered close behind Seluvis’ Rise if you want to complete the set.)

STEP 9: CONFRONTATION

If Blaidd’s journey left you feeling hollow and empty, don’t worry: there are even more sad narratives to be unearthed in Elden Ring for those who seek hard enough.
