Castle Morne, despite its vastness, is not a Legacy Dungeon. You can bypass it, but you’ll miss out on a Stonesword Key, numerous new weapons, the Twinblade Talisman, and much more if you don’t.
Use this Elden Ring Castle Morne guide to ensure you don’t die (too much) or lose out on any riches.
CASTLE MORNE ELDEN RING LOCATION

Elden Ring’s Castle Morne is not an easy place to miss. Follow the route south from the Weeping Peninsula until you see a gigantic castle materialize in front of you.
On a side note, don’t be scared of the stone giant. It’s a fairly weak adversary, despite its size. Simply slit its ankles and proceed into Castle Morne.
CASTLE MORNE ENEMIES AND ITEMS

To begin, walk on the pressure plate after passing the Castle Morne Lift site of grace. This will lead you to the first open region, which is populated with Undead Dogs and Misbegotten. Smoldering Butterflies, a crafting ingredient used to manufacture various fire-related goods, surround the campfires in Castle Morne.
Go up the stairs straight to your left before reaching the open space and kill the two Undead Dogs to obtain a Smithing Stone [2]. Continue beyond the bodies and defeat the Pumpkin Head that is obstructing your path. He will drop either a Sanctuary Stone, a Smithing Stone, or a Pumpkin Helm (which is rare). Keep an eye out for the flying Misbegotten and don’t overlook the corpse to your left clutching three Smithing Stones [1].

Consider ascending the corpse pile first before continuing up the main ladder. It just takes a few Misbegotten to gather the Fire Grease from the body hanging over the wall. Behind the body (see above), there’s a secret corridor that leads to a chamber with a chest containing a Claymore.
As you continue on your castle tour, you will come across many groups of Misbegotten and Soldiers battling each other. Sit back and relax before dispatching the survivors. When you reach the upper stone walls, look for the Furlcalling Finger Remedy and Steel Torch among the dead.
Following there, you’ll be back on the main road via Castle Morne. Defeat the Misbegotten on the stone walls ahead, and remember to take a Golden Rune [2] from the corpse in the middle. Don’t go to the campfire in front of you yet if you want more treasure. There are two additional sections to discover on either side of the stone wall (ladder one and two in the picture).

Take the ladder to your right to locate two Misbegotten (warning: one will come from the sky) and a corpse with two Smithing Stones [2]. Go down the second ladder to see another group of Misbegotten and Soldiers arguing. Finish out the survivors and then get the Golden Rune [2]. Then, after climbing the tower, speak with the NPC Edgar, who will offer you the Sacrificial Twig Talisman.
After you’ve finished all of this, you may walk to that cozy-looking campfire and activate the neighboring Behind the Castle site of grace (drop down).
STONESWORD KEY, TWINBLADE TALISMAN, AND THE BESIDE THE RAMPART GAOL SITE OF GRACE

Continue your Castle Morne journey by descending the cliffs. However, instead of jumping onto the rooftop with the grate door, proceed forward. Below the wooden platform is a corpse holding a Stonesword Key.
Ahead of you lies a stone wall with a swarm of terrified Misbegotten (you can backstab or ignore them) and a tower. Before you get there, be sure to enter the room on the right with the trapped Spirit NPC. Kill the Misbegotten and scavenge his corpse for Pickled Turtle Necks, but beware of the Slime that will fall from the ceiling.
Now go to the tower. You can ascend the tower after fighting the Misbegotten with the huge axe to get the Twinblade Talisman. Climb down again and jump to the right rooftop. Don’t forget to look for the corpse with the three Tarnished Golden Sunflowers.
There’s an aperture in the floor a little further forward. You’ll perish if you don’t hop on the wood beams instead of merely tumbling down. On the first beam, there’s also a corpse holding a Smithing Stone.
On the floor below you, there are four Rats and a Misbegotten. If you want to be safe, use ranged weapons on them while you’re still out of reach. After that, walk outdoors and plunder another body for a Whip weapon. Don’t miss the grace site Beside the Rampart Gaol around the corner on your left!

Cross the hanging bridge and kill the two sleeping Misbegotten to finish Castle Morne before the boss. It’s hard to surprise them, and they’re quite difficult to beat. Go down the ladder after looting the body for eight Throwing Daggers.
Gather the riches on the coast before approaching the boss region. A corpse holding a Somber Smithing Stone [1] may be found just around the bend from the tower. A gigantic crab will appear ahead of you in front of a tiny cave with 15 Fire Arrows.
CASTLE MORNE BOSS: LEONINE MISBEGOTTEN
If you spent any of your flasks battling the Misbegotten, here’s a tip: now that you have the treasure, return to the place of grace, obtain a refill, then drop down from the hanging bridge (skipping over the sleeping Misbegotten this time).

The Leonine Misbegotten, Castle Morne’s boss, is a lightning-fast physical damage dealer. He mostly employs rapid horizontal slash combinations and leap strikes. The bad news is that you won’t be able to maintain your distance. The good news is that those horizontal blows are readily parried. The Leonine Misbegotten is resistant to Magic, Lightning, and Holy damage but vulnerable to Physical damage (especially slash).
It’s also worth noting that you may utilize your Spirit Summons against the Elden Ring boss. Using enhanced Lone Wolf Ashes can help you confuse the Leonine Misbegotten as you deplete his HP.
You will be rewarded with a Grafted Blade Greatsword for dealing the last blow to the Leonine Misbegotten.
