Animal Crossing: New Horizons flowers and hybrids guide

Create some one-of-a-kind flowers by cross-breeding them.

Animal Crossing: Unique Horizons on the Nintendo Switch includes a multitude of flowers, including several breeds that are new to the genre.

We’ll explain how flowers function and the colors you can achieve by crossbreeding and pollinating cosmoses, hyacinths, lilies, mums, pansies, roses, tulips, and windflowers to create some remarkable blue, pink, and even black flowers in this tutorial.

HOW FLOWERS WORK IN ANIMAL CROSSING ON SWITCH

On their cliffs, each player has a natural type of bloom. These are always available for purchase in your business. More flower breeds will be available for purchase if you complete Nook’s Cranny. To earn a large number of them rapidly, you may need to visit some friends’ islands or get fortunate on a Nook Miles island.

You may crossbreed and produce unique hybrid hues, much like in previous Animal Crossing games. The ideal method to accomplish this is to plant your flowers in a checkerboard pattern, leaving every other place free for pollination by other plants and the growth of hybrid blooms.

Flowers require water to develop and hybridize (from rain or from you and your Watering Can). Watered flowers shine.

According to data collected from flower researcher Aeter, having friends from other islands water your flowers increases the likelihood of the blooms producing progeny. Aeter also provides a spreadsheet with some of the most effective hybrid flower growing methods, however our advice has been simplified for novices.

Flowers may be picked without uprooting the entire plant. When you press Y while standing on a flower, you will select the blossom while leaving the stalks to regenerate. These flowers may be used in a number of do-it-yourself dishes.

It’s worth noting that certain flowers planted next to one other will still produce new blooms, even if they aren’t hybrid colors. These hybrid hues cannot be purchased and must be created through crossbreeding. Some people will be successful in locating certain rare flowers through Mystery Island Tours, but we’ve provided the simplest technique to breed the blooms from scratch below.

There are other methods to obtain particular colors, but we’ve included the combinations with the best chances of producing unusual hues without utilizing any Mystery Island Tours flowers.

All of the combos below begin with seeds, which may be purchased at Nook’s Cranny or Leif’s kiosk. Using flowers from multiple sources may cause your findings to be skewed.
